Six voices from Ljubljana

Six young singers from Ljubljana Slovenia got together in Autumn 2009 and thus was born the Ingenium Ensemble. The group’s repertoire knows no boundaries, extending from Renaissance spiritual works through the Romantic right up to modern day jazz and pop. Of particular note are their arrangements of Slovenian folk songs and works by young contemporary Slovenian composers. Regardless of which genre these six singers choose, musical excellence and great entertainment are guaranteed.

Since its inception, the ensemble has performed numerous concerts both at home and in other European countries; Austria, Croatia, France and Switzerland are just a few of their previous concert tour destinations.

Ingenium is the winner of several national and international competitions, including 1st Prize at the International Choral Competition Bad Ischl in Austria (2013), 2nd Prize and Audience Prize at the Leipzig International A-Cappella Competition (2014), and most recently 1st Prize in the sacred as well as the secular competition at the ‘Tolosako Abesbatza Lehiaketa’ in Tolosa (Spain) where they also won the Audience Prize.
In January 2015 Ingenium received the »Golden Emblem« from the JSKD (Public Fund for Cultural Activities in Slovenia) for outstanding performances in vocal music and in 2012 Ingenium participated in a Masterclass with the English ensemble VOCES8 as part of the International Choir Festival ‘Europa Cantat’ in Turin. In 2013 they took part in workshops with, among others, Stephen Connolly (former member of the King's Singers), the famous soprano and Ancient Music specialist Emma Kirkby and the German vocal ensemble ‘Singer Pur’.

Their first CD, including recordings of both sacred and secular works, was released in 2015.
